Here's a thought-On the General Consulate of Finland- who the heck is that?I would find out and contact that office. They may be able to help you, or at least point you in a direction that can.I would also look on the Hiski Project for Kemila and Ruuska. If this isn't working, have you tried the American Finnish Reporter? It's a free listing/newspaper ad, I believe circulated in Michigan/Wisconsin locations.I had a few hard surnames to find- Kahkipuro and Ylonen, but believe it or not, I have finally found them. It takes a while, but worth the wait.Have you tried looking on Rootsweb.com forum boards, LDS Mormon site, etc.?I wonder if you were to contact the Florida Naturalization office, if they could tell you where she was from- I know that when my great grandfather was naturalized from Switzerland, he had it listed down to the street he lived on- granted, Finland is different, but you never know.Have you looked on Census reports? That's a wide range from Ohio and Florida- wow, you got your work cut out.I would look on the censuses in that Ohio town that you mentioned, and go from there.Do you know her church affilation- 99% of my Finns are Lutheran, so it is likely- I would start with that as well. You never know.Do you know if she came through Ellis Island? I would check at that port. Also the Institute of Migration-I'm just throwing some ideas off the top of my head, I don't know if you have already done these things. But, I would talk to the Consulate office and find out what they know first. Also, I would think of backtracking, sometimes that helps.Start with the children, and track them. Sometimes the parents work out of the wood that way. Then, I would jump over to the sisters, and find out all you can on that.I know it seems like the long way around, but when working on a mystery, work on all angles!Good luck, and let me know what you found on that consulate thing- I'm curious now!:)
