The Frank Finklea listed in the Autumn Breeze facility was born John Frank Finklea, but later had his name legally changed to Frank John Finklea. His year of birth is unknown, as the official records were lost, though he claimed 1910. Others speculate 1909. He was raised in an orphanage in Chicago, then moved to Mobile County, Alabama (Daphne) as an adult. He owned several pecan shelling businesses, was a licensed pilot who served domestically in the Civil Air Patrol during World War II and also owned an airport (now called Brookley Field, I think). He married Bessie Irene Peacock, then divorced in the mid 1960's. His children are Glen, Gary, Irene and Llewelyn (Joyce). Only two of his grandchildren bare the family name: Gary Jr. (Corpus Cristi, Texas) and Matthew (Mobile, Alabama). He passed away at about age 93 and was laid to rest in the Valhalla Gardens Cemetery in Mobile, Alabama. I am fairly certain he had a sister named Minnie, as I recall my mother speaking of an "Aunt Minnie." Grandpa (Frank) was a first cousin to Tulla Ellice Finklea (native of Amarillo, Texas) aka Cyd Charisse of former Hollywood fame.
