I am descended from Joseph Jeremiah Finkell whose father was Heinrich (Henry) Finkle. I think Heinrich was the son of Johannes Finkle or Finckel whose father Dr. George Finckel was a loyalist and moved during the American Revolution to Canada. Henry was born in 1788 in NY and died in NY near Troy between 1820 and 1830. Dr George moved to Canada with all of his children, I believe, around 17777. My question is, do I have the wrong Henry? Did Johannes move to Canada and then move back? Or did Johannes not leave with his family in 1777? This is a real puzzle.
