FINIGAN'S Freeport, Nova Scotia,Canada: Irish Connection?

Looking for infomation regarding what part of Ireland our family came from. I have been told Limerick but I have no idea. Michael Finnigan & brother Patrick Finnigan came to Canada via Halifax, NS around 1827 and settled in Nova Scotia.

Would anyone have any clue as to where most Finnigan's/Finigan's/Finnegan's were from in Ireland? Galway, Roscommon, Limerick? They were protestants.

Thanks,
Susan
