i'm absolutely sure this is my cassie; my grandmother's mother was named cassie fincher, and was raised by her pat. grandparents in lanett, chambers, AL ( alonza carter was her gf, leonard carter was her father. he was born in 1895; the cassie i have found was born anywhere between 1893 and 1897, depending where you look. the one i have narrowed down to was the daughter of oats " otsie" fincher and ludie norred. otsie's parents were wm. thos. clark fincher and lucy kitchens.
on a 1910 census, in chambers co., there is a cassie d. fincher , father otis, mother lydie, at pearsons cross roads, chambers, al. siblings incl. george and allie.
my grandmother was born in 1915 or 1916- i think my grandparents were married, my ggf was in WWI- i think cassie left my grandmother with his parents when he was gone. it's a long story, but anyway, my grandmother never really knew her mom- she was raised by leonard's parents until she was 12, then he pulled her out of school to help care for his 2nd family, as he had remarried and had other kids.
the fincher line i found her in descends from the francis fincher from england- most of my info is via howard fincher, whom i have tried to contact, but have never had a response.
