I have read your messages on Gen Forum to me and others.

I'm afraid I have no connection to families in the USA that I know of. If you have evidence of your family (Finchams) originating from North Essex let me know. I would be interested to look into it.

I have seen the FINCHAM village site which as you say is interesting. I visited the real village in the summer and took photos of various family members by the village sign etc.

It seems unlikely that all Finchams are related however, as the people who originally left FINCHAM to other parts of England and abroad would have taken FINCHAM as a surname because they were 'of Fincham', i.e. from that village. This was probably 1300, 1400 or 1500 so a long time age. There are records of some Finchams in a village called Terling in Essex (15-20 miles from Colchester) dated in the 1500s and early 1600s. I have only traced a direct line of ancestors back to 1715 (Henry Fincham who married at Great Tey in 1735, Great Tey is 6-7 miles from Colchester)
