Dear Laurie:
I fear that you and I have different clans of Finches in our background. Most if not all of my clan lived in the south. My Frank Marion Finch, b 1835 in Georgia, son of Willis and Elizabeth C. Harris Finch. Frank m Mahala Catherine Harris, b 1842 in Alabama.
Children were Lucinda, b 1861 in Alabama, m Jeff Smith, John Link, b 1866, William, b 1868, Ben b 1870,
Marion, b 1871, m Sally, Jim, b 1872, Russ, b 1874, m Adine Lowery, Dan (my grandfather) b 3-4-1875, Lamar Co, Ala, m Laura Emma Thomas. Dan and Laura farmed in Lamar Co, Alabama, rearing 4 boys and 3 girls. All of them have died.
Sorry to tell you I can't help you. If you have not as yet, try to obtain a book, "The Finch Familes of Dixie, written by Ruby Thompson Finch. It is long out of print, but your local library most likely can get a copy on loan.
