Dear Paul:

I am Duane R. Finch and I have been working on Finch genealogy for some years. I am very interested in reading your proposal. I have been very fortunate to receive some valuable Finch documents over the years. I have the complete Thummel record (850 pages) that Claude Thummel created as a member of the Finch Family Association. I also have numerous publications that were sent out by the Finch Family Assoc. I also have the book The American Frontiersman published by Ralph D. Finch. In recent years I have been working with Lydia (Finch) Johnston who is the creator of the web site Finchroots.com. This web site consists of Finch history beginning in 1630. We have obtained quite an amount of info from people who have found our web site. We think the web site is very intresting as we have a goodly amount of photos from the past.

I live in Loveland OH (Cincinnati area). However, I am often in Kelley Iowa (Story County) which is my home territory. My Finches have been in Story County since 1860 when my Great grandfather, three of his brothers and a sister migrated from Wisconsin. Many of our Story County Finches are farmers in that area and continue to populate quite a community of Finches in Story County Iowa.

After I retired, my wife Barbara and I bought the old Congregational Church building in Kelley Iowa. It has evolved into an Historical Hall for that area. That is where I store a considerable collection of Finch portraits and memorabilia. Eventually I will have all of my Finch History in Kelley. A link to a photo of our building in Kelley Iowa (Kelley Historical Hall) can be found on Finchroots.com.

I am interested in hearing more from you as to your lineage and ideas you have to reactivate the Finch Family Association. I have often said that a proposal like yours would be a valuable avenue for our continuing collection of Finch family history.

All for now.
Duane
