Hello, Finch Family Community

My name is Paul Finch.

I have been interested in my own personal Finch Family genealogy and history for many years now, but now have determined that I want to expand my interest into the entire Finch Family community. That being said, I wish to propose to the entire Finch Family community that is interested in the furthering of Finch Family genealogy be introduced to the following proposal.

I wish to re-establish the Finch Family Association, that once existed, but died off in the 1960's. This previous association had gathered a lot of information, that now has been donated to the Connecticut Society of Genealogists.
This wealth of information is basically inaccessible to us Finch Family genealogists.

Okay, here is what I propose.

I would like to re-establish a new Finch Family Association.

I am looking for ideas here, so I would like to have some response to what we, as a Finch Family community, could do with this.

Here are some of my suggestions.

I would like to represent the community as its first president, or whatever, to:

A Build a database of Finch Family information. As an association, I do believe that we could petition the Connecticut Society of Genealogist to release the former Finch Family Association files to me (us), as President of the Finch Family Association, which I will extend to all members as I am able to pass on.

B. Dedicate to generate and publish Finch Family information.

C. I am now working on a published genealogy of the first five generations of the descendants of John Finch, d. Stamford, 1657, which I will give to all that are members of this new society.

d. Contribute to the overall genealogical database of Finch Family information.
----

Okay, having said this, I wish to propose the following.

That:
1. That the establishment of a new Finch Family Association be created on April 1,2009.
2. That an annual membership fee of, say, $15 per year, per member be assessed. Such revenues would be used only for the purpose of furthering Finch genealogy.
3. That this association is a non-profit association.
4. That, hence forth, officers of said association be voted upon, which would included, President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer, and what ever else is deemed required.

1. The Finch Family Association be created to further Finch Family genealogy and information.

2. That a Website be established for this purpose.

3. That official membership in said association be determined by annual dues, and an official membership card.

4. That officers in this association be voted upon annually.

5. That this is a non-profit organization for the betterment of the entire Finch Family community.

This is the basic proposal, although there are many other benefits to a family association that will be helpful to us all. Personally, I promise to promote all the above objectives.

As I stated above, my name is Paul Finch. I am age 64, and now retired, so now I can dedicate my entire life to the objectives above stated.

So here is what I propose:
1 Upon membership, you will receive a card of membership;
2. You will receive a CD of Census records of Finch Family names for the years of 1790, 1800, 1810, 1820, 1830 partial.
3. That you receive the first chapter in the forth coming book, John Finch of Stamford, d. 1657.
4. That you will receive a sample of the Finch Family Association files that we all seek.

Well, that is all that I have for now.

Let me know what you, as a Finch Family community thinks,

All the best,

Paul R. Finch
