From Kane County Democrat-June 28, 1854-Advertisement:
400,000
PEOPLE IN THE WEST
have been cured in ONE INSTANT, others in a few hours or days, of dreadful pains and diseases; and those who keep the medicine for sudden attacks or accidents, have
AT MIDNIGHT
saved life in Spasms, Colic, Cramp, Fainting-fits, Vomiting, Choking from Worms, and sudden attacks of Dysenter and Cholera Morbus. Cured Rheumatism by three applications, pain of Burns in five minutes; cured Toothache in tormenting attacks, instantly, nervous headache and sick-headache in fifteen minutes by the extraordinary medicine, called
INSTANT CURE OF PAIN!
It has been prepared for a number of years, by J. STANFORD GREGORY, Chemist at the Far West Medical Laboratory, established in 1845 at Maumee City, Ohio. This new country west of Lake Erie, is the ancient domain of the Ottawa Indians, where are obtained their poweful medicines. These are combined with the choicest Gums, Barks, Balsams and Roots of the temperate and torrid zones. This medicine is a pure chemical extract of these remedies so penetrating and quick that one drop placed on the tongue is instantly felt through the whole system, even to the fingers ends. It is different from any other remedy ever discovered for pain, as it is safe in all its effects. The first dose that is taken or the first application that is made either cures or allays the pain. The many thousands of families who are using it, recommend it to their friends from experience of its great benefit for Colds, Dysentery, Wounds, Lame Back, weakness across the hips, faintness, dots or webs before the eyes when stooping, nervousness, &c. Not a case is known in which it has failed to prevent or cure Broken Breast; fifteen drops always cures pain in the stomach after eating and severe cases of Dyssepsia in ten days. This is the only medicine containing a new antiseptic fluid obtained from Charcoal. There is probably no superior on earth for preventing motification of broken bones, tormenting swollen and inflamed sprains. Back bruises or mangled flesh, by using it freely, even in the hottest weather. It is everywhere used for all inward weakness, stoppage of circulation, Fever and Ague, (curing without a second shake) and as a family medicine to save life and prevent many sicknesses - and for instant use by day or night when a doctor could not be called in time. It is prepared by a chemist and Druggist who has had twenty years experience, and as perfect knowledge of the powers of medicine as any physician. It is so chemically concentrated that a 25 CENT BOTTLE, when diluted for use, makes one quart. As it has been but little used in this county, every agent will Warrant Dr. GREGORY'S Instant Cure of Pain to give satisfaction, or the purchaser may return the bottle and receive back his money. Reader, please call at the General Agency, JONES' Drug Store, Tremont Block, East side, St. Charles,
and obtain one of the fifty dollar bills or a cirular which he has to give away." He will warrant it as above. Agents throughout the county say that no medicine sells so fast - people who buy it send half a dozen neighbors. Some agents sell 600 bottles a year. Sold at wholesale by Druggists in Chicago.
