Thank you for your reply. I have been in contact with 2 Finches in England, and since they aren't related to the Abraham, Daniel, and John Finch of 1630, they aren't jumping at the chance to dig further. One said that there was a Finch grocer or storekeeper of some sort in London who helped the Saltonstalls prepare for the voyage. Since this Finch was from York, he claims that other people working with our Finches entered York in their records.

Your contact person was probably not related directly to these Winthrop Finches, and may be guessing at the iron works connection for our Winthrop Finches. Do you have the book "Our Finches..."?
If it touches on our Finches, I'd be surprised.
