Looking for information on family traced back to DOMINICK Finan: b. about 1807-died 10 Aug. 1867, Ballyglass East townland, near Loughglynn village, Co. Roscommon (Tibohine parish). Also in Griffith's as tenant sharing land in Cloonfower & Breanamore t/l's. Married Ellen Dockery b. abt. 1819-died 25 April 1869 in same place.
Son JOHN b. 19 May 1853-m. Mary "Dockry" b. 29 Apr. 1860 in Breedogue church, Ballinameen parish, m. there 18 Feb. 1886. Mary lived in Ballyglass East house as of 1901/11, with eight children. Mary's father Patrick b. abt. 1823-d. after 1901 maybe in Cloonsheever t/l, near Callow; m. abt. 1855 Cecelia Forde b. abt. 1825-died before 1901.
Son of John Finan: JAMES J. b. 27 Nov. 1896, "commercial traveller" (later in factory work) in Galway city when m. 22 Sept. 1930 Crossboyne parish Co. Mayo Anne (Annie) Diviney, "clerical worker" then living in Castlerea, b. 6 Aug 1901. Diviney family from Scardaun West t/l. Co. mayo near Ballndine. James Finan and Annie Diviney lived at Devon Park, Galway city in 1930s raising two daughters and one son. One daughter was as of 1960 married, the other went to Washington D.C., the son worked in a factory.
