Carole,
My mother was a Finan and I have been a Finan researcher for almost 20 years.

In my records I found information on some of the Finan families mentioned in your query.

In the 1860 U.S. Census of Dover, Wisconsin I found the following:

Hugh Finan Age 51
Bridget Finan Age 38
John Finan Age 14
James Finan Age 12
Michael Finan Age 10
Hugh Finan Age 8
Thomas Finan Age 4
Bernard Finan Age 4
Catherine Finan Age 2

Hugh and Bridget were born in Ireland. John was born in Michigan.
All the other kids born in Wisconsin, so presumably they moved
to Wisconsin between 1846 and 1848.

By 1870 Michael, age 20 was listed as a farmhand on the family
farm, and Hugh, age 19, was working as a farmhand on the farm of
Charles McManus and family in Dover. Two more kids were listed
in 1870. They were Mary, age 7 and Peter, age 4.

By 1880 only Mary, 16 and Peter, 14 were at home. Hugh was
now 71 and he had a farmhand helping him, William Hensin, age 19.
He was born in Wisconsin, and his parents were born in Prussia.

By 1900 The only Finans that I found in Dover were the family of
Hugh's oldest son, John Finan. He was then 53 (born June, 1846
in Michegan). His wife was Mary, born in Ireland in June, 1857.
They had been married for 15 years and had two children,
Myrtle Finan, born Oct, 1886, and Thomas L Finan, born June 1888.

That is all I have for that Finan family. Another name you asked about
was Ann Finan Scanlon Brady. I found her in Oak Creek, WI in 1860:
She was married to Patrick Brady, age 40, and they had four children:
Jane Brady, age 22, Luke Brady, age 18, Mary Brady, age 15, and
Ann Brady, age 11. Both parents were born in Ireland and all the kids
were born in Wisconsin.

Another name you asked about was Michael Finan of Manistee, MI.
I found him and his family there in 1870. He was age 54, and his wife
Katherine Finan was 53. Their children were: Bridget Finan, age 20, Hugh
Finan, age 19, John Finan, age 17, Mary A. Finan, age 14, James
Finan, age 13, Thomas Finan, age 11, Margaret Finan, age 9, Michael
Finan, age 6, and Edward Finan, age 3. All the children were born
in Michegan except Bridget, who was born in Connecticut. Therefore,
it is likely that the family moved to Michegan between 1850 and 1851.

By 1880 Catherine, spelled with a C this time, was divorced. (I assume
this was a really big thing back in those days). Bridget was gone, presumably
married, and John, James, Thomas, and Michael were working as "common
laborers". Eddie was 13 and still in school.

I am not sure, but I think I found some of those kids as grown-ups in 1900. Michael,
age 37 and born Sept, 1862, was a widower living in a boarding house in Cleon
Township, Manistee County. I found a Thomas Finan in the Township of
Forest, Cheboygan County. He was born Oct, 1859 in Michigan, and married
to Emily Finan, born in 1864. They had 4 kids: Ethel Finan, born 1890,
Frank Finan, born 1892, Arthur Finan, born 1895, and Hazen Finan, born 1898.

If this family IS that of Thomas in the above family line, then there was
another large family in Forest, Cheboygan County that year which could
be that of Thomas' brother, James Finan: That family was James
Finan, born Oct, 1858, his wife Bina, born in Aug, 1863 in Denmark,
and their children: Carl Finan, born Nov, 1891, John Finan, born
May, 1893, and Hwenia C. Finan, born Dec, 1897.

I was unable to find anything on the remaining Finan names in your query.
I hope the above information is of use to you.
