Marianne Philson,
You stated you are connecting to your branch of the Philson family from Donegal County, Ireland,
My Philson family is not from Donegal County, Ireland, but from Tyrone County, Ireland and Londonderry, Londonderry, Ireland.
You stated connecting to the original Robert b. 1759 in Magherabouy townland, Co Donegal, Ireland who was in PA by 1783/1784 and married Judith Lowry.
My 3rd great grandfather Robert Philson was born 1759 in Tyrone County, Ireland. My family records have he was baptized 1759 in Omagh, Tyrone, Ireland,
and he did marry Judith Lowry March 1789 in Berlin, Somerset, Pennsylvania, USA, a double wedding with his wife's sister Susannah Lowry and John Fletcher.
Of Note: My 3rd great grandfather Robert Philson in Pennsylvania has for a long time been confused with the 1778 Magherabouy, Donegal, Ireland Will of Robert Fillson.
Robert Fillson's son Robert Fillson and his daughter Florens Fillson before his 1778 Will, left Donegal County, Ireland and went to settle in Augusta County, Virginia, USA.
Source: Augusta County, Virginia Wills, p.104, 7th May, 1768. Robert Fillson's Will- To sister Florens Fillson, all estate. Executors. John Givens, Sand. Henderson, Teste. Sand. Bell, John Henderson, John Givens, Proved 18th May 1768, by Givens and Bell. Executors refused to execute. William Robertson qualifies, with Saml. Henderson, George Crawford. WB 4:119.
My 3rd great grandfather Robert Philson b. 1759 could read and write as I have his handwritten signature that was on a document.Robert and his brothers were taught how to read and write by their father who was a teacher and his main subject was math and they lived in Londonderry,Londonderry, Ireland. My 3rd great grand aunt Susannah Lowry Fletcher in her 14 Oct 1846 Will, knew Judith Lowry Philson wanted to give the Robert Philson and Judith Lowry's 5 volume Bible set to Alexander Hays Philson.
