Filmer Family Genealogy Forum
The Filmer wills are transcribed in a book titled "VA Gleanings in England". If you come through the Argall line, this family is documented in "The Visitation of Essex, 1612", which I just found yesterday at the library. The Scott line is in "The Visitation of Kent, 1619", as is the Filmer genealogy. They are also in "The Visitation of Kent, 1592". These visitations are gold mines of genealogy and I suppose were a kind of census. (Elizabeth Argall, who married Sir Edward Filmer, was the daughter of Richard Argall and Mary Scott). The writings are in Latin, so I suspect that's why Mary Scott is often listed on the Internet as Marie, which is what her name is in Latin. It's not hard to figure out if you know a few basic words, although I asked a librarian for a little help. I have just discovered that I had these lines, so it is great to find all this.
