Hi Sylvia,
The Name Filla comes definitely from "Oberschlesien". Schlesien belongs to Poland since 1945. My Family lived in Reigersfeld/Bierawa (German/Polish) and escaped in 1944 like most of the Germans there to the western regions of Germany. Bierawa is near Cosel/Kozle in the Country of Oppeln/Opole.
From my Grandfather I've got a genealogical table which was written from old chirch registers. "Alt Schalkowitz" is also listed! If you are interested I could send you a scan of it...
