Hi, Melaney,
I have done some sporadic research on my g-g-g-grandparents, Robert E. and Harriet Ann (FLETCHER) FILES, who left Oskaloosa, IA in 1862 wagon train, bound for Walla Walla, WA, where they settled. They were married bef. 1859, perhaps in VA. Acc. to an IA census, they were both born in VA, Robert on 12 May 1834, Harriet Jan, 1831. A Walla Walla historian says Robert born in IA, Harriet born in PA, but both items disputed by those who go by census. I have seen a reference to a Robert Files in Monongalia County, VA histories, late 1700's--could be ancestor of my Robert--but have no further information on Files family in VA.
Might you have any leads for me on these people?
Patsy Skeels
