Hi, I am writing a story for the local newspaper about George Fikes/Fykes born in 1755-11/30/1782 who died and is buried at Fort Oswego in Oswego NY. I'm looking for information such as... His birthplace? The names of his parents and any brother's & sister's? How long was he at Fort Oswego? Did he live anywhere else in Oswego besides Fort Oswego? Any friends or girlfriends in the oswego area? Was he married? Any family or descendants and where are they located? And finally, I read somewhere George died in the garrison at Fort Oswego is this true? If so, why was he in the garrison? Where can I find an obituary notice?
