I assume that this is a good spelling, since William G was literate. However, in the 1790 census of Edgecombe County, Halifax District, there are 2 Figures Mattw Figure with 2 males 16 and up, 8 females Batt Figures with 1 male 16 and up, 3 males under 16, 3 females, and 4 ither free people. This is my best guess as to who my line is. He was married to Martha. Martha appeared on the census in 1800 in Hertford County, NC. She is listed as head of household, indicating William is dead. William FIGURES and Martha had the following children: 23 i. Richard FIGURES was born between 1764 and 1774 in Edgecombe County, Halifax District, NC. In all available census, she also lists her birthplace as South Carolina. However, there are no Figuars or Figures in the 1790 or 1800 census of South Carolina. There are however 2 in 1the 1790 North Carolina Census in the same county that I believe that William lived during the 1790's. She appeared on the census in 1820 in Kershaw County, SC. No indication of what became of her 3 daughters, 2 other sons, or her husband. She appeared on the census in 1830 in Kershaw County, SC. Free White Males 15 to 20 years 1 Free White Females 40 to 50 years 1 60 to 70 years 0 All other free persons 0 Slaves 0 She died between 1850 and 1860 in Lancaster District, SC. Nancy was living with William F according to the October 1850 census of Lancaster SC but she was not on the 1860 census. She was married to William Glafstraughn BRASINGTON (son of BRASINGTON and GLAFSTRAUGHN) on February 17, 1802 in South Carolina. Nancy listed South Carolina as her birth place, as did William Figuars. It is reasonable to presume they were married in South Carolina. William Glafstraughn BRASINGTON was born on July 17, 1776 in Ireland. William Figuars Brasington's clearly lists the birthplace of his father as Ireland. He appeared on the census in 1800 in Northampton County, NC. The family listed 1 male age 26 to 45, 1 male age 16 to 26, and 1 boy under 16. He was a Saddler between 1809 and 1815 in Camden, Kershaw County, SC. The average price of a saddle was $16, of a harness $20. He appeared on the census in 1810 in Kershaw County, SC. Living in Camden, SC with a household of eight free white persons: Free White Males Under 10 years of age 1 (William F) 10 to 16 years 3 ??? 26 to 45 years * 2 (William and George) Free White Females 16 to 26 years * 1 26 to 45 years * 1 (Ann) All other free persons 0 Slaves 0 * including heads of families He was a Jailor about 1815 in Kershaw District, SC. He appeared on the census in 1830 in Camden, Kershaw County, SC. In the 1820 and 1830 Census. there are indications of a 4th son. Since we know that W F, James, and Oliver were still with their mother, he is possibly the 4th. 44 vi. Wiley BRASINGTON was born on February 2, 1813 in Camden, Kershaw County, SC.
