There was a James Fife that was a brother to my wife's grandfather, Frank Finis Fife. James Fife was the second oldest of nine children of Samuel and Joesphine (Burchfield) Fife. James was born in September 1876 in Webster County, Mississippi and married Florence Hatshen (born in April 1882 in TN) in 1899 in Limestone County, Texas. He was a general farmer in Limestone County. They had 10 children, including Jack born 1902 and James born 1917. Was James, the son, your great grandfather? Without further information, I cannot tell whether this James Fife is the one you are looking for or whether it might be one of the James Fifes in the James Hughy Fife line, a brother of Samuel Fife. Please provide me more information to see if there is a connection here or in another Fife line.
