A.B. FIERCE, one of Decatur County's well known citizens, dropped dead Monday afternoon about three o'clock while chopping wood at the home of MRS. ANNA FIERCE in Van Wert. The announcement of his sudden and unexpected death came as a great shock to the whole county.

MR. FIERCE, who for years was one of the county's most successful farmers, had retired from farm management, and with MRS. FIERCE, was making his home in Van Wert. He was ill last spring but had recovered and was in a fair state of health. He was active as he had always been and usually kept busy about their home. Monday he had been engaged in cutting wood and was at work when death came upon him. He suddenly dropped his ax and fell lifeless. Physicians were called but life was extinct. MR. FIERCE has been a resident of Decatur County many years and was one of our pioneer citizens. He had always been active in the affairs of his community, the county and state, and was highly respected by all. He will be greatly missed. MR. FIERCE leaves his wife and three children, two daughters and one son, with numerous relatives and close friends to mourn his death.
