DNA match between two branches of the Field family

Abraham Field (1636-1672) is the first documented Field of one of the Virginia Field families. No documents have been found to connect him to a father or other ancestor. There also was no concrete evidence to connect him to any other branch of the Field family either in America or England. For years the family tradition stated that his father was Henry Field (1611-) of England who immigrated to Virginia with his cousin John Dickinson on the ship expectation in 1635. It was stated that he immigrated to Jamestown but there is no record of him being there or where he died or was buried.

For several years I have asked that any Field who descends from any other line of the Field family to have a Y-chromosome DNA test done and compare it with mine. I was recently in contact with a descendant of a the Rhode Island Field line who had Y-chromosome markers identical to mine.

This is very strong evidence that these two lines of the family have a Most Recent Common Ancestor within 14 generations.

I have published this information on our Field Family Website. It can be found at Lucie’s Genealogy
