Field Family Genealogy Forum

Richard,
Thank you so much for the information. I did not have any of those dates, nor did I know Elizabeth's full name nor who married them. So do you have a copy of the actual marriage record? I have not done a lot of work on this side of my family and you are the first person I have connected with that has.
Concerning the Battle of Point Pleasant, I too have seen Col. John Field's name and wondered if there was a connection. There was also a Capt. John Field who was surveying in the area and escaped the massacre at Kelley's Creek. According to the "History of Kanawha County" by George W Atkinson, "When the express arrived at the cabin of Walter Kelly, twenty miles below the falls, Captain John Field, of Culpepper (who had been in active service during the French war, and was then engaged in making surveys) was there with a young Scotchman and a Negro woman." After the massacre, he ran eighty miles back towards the Greenbrier settlement to get help.
I don't know where you are located, but I live in the Kanawha Valley near Charleston. Do you know where any of the Field's are buried? I would like to find out more about this part of my family. You can email me if you want.
