Field X-chromosome DNA Matches

The various branches of the Field Family in the US have different origins. Many of the American Fields descend from Darby Field (abt. 1610-1649) It is reported that he immigrated from Boston England to Boston MA in 1638. He then moved to Exeter, NH in 1648 and died in Dover, HN in 1649. It is also reported that he had 3 brothers. One of these Henry (1611 - ?) is reported to have immigrated to VA in 1635. He is on the passenger list of the ship Expectation year?. Very little is known about him. One of the Virginia branches of the Field Family descends from Abraham Field (abt. 1636 - 1674) of Westmoreland Co. VA with good documentation. It is often stated that Abraham was the son of Henry. However, no documents exist that prove this relationship. The possibility exists that Henry and Darby were brothers. If they were, then the their Y chromosome DNA should be identical. Thus, if the New England branch of the Field family and this VA branch were to have identical Y chromosome DNA this would help substantiate the family traditions that have been passed down.

As far as I know only two descendants of the Virginia Fields have had their Y chromosomes tested with the 12 marker test. These two men had no idea of the existence of the other and their DNA is identical for the 12 marker test. I am one of these men and I know for certain that I descend from Abraham Field of Westmoreland Co. VA.

If any direct male descendant of Darby has had his Y-chromosome DNA tested it would be extremely interesting to be in contact with him. If it is the same as mine and the other Field male then we will know that there is some connection between Darby and Abraham. It will not be enough to verify a specific relationship but would demonstrate that there is a connection between these Field family branches.

If any Field has had his Y-chromosome DNA tested it would be very interesting to compare results. My markers can be found on my web page at www.luciefield.net. Please contact me and tell me if you match or not.
