Noah Fidler was a circuit rider in America's pioneer days.
His story is the subject of the juvenile book "Wilderness Rider", by Leonard and Carolyn Wolcott, published by Abingdon in 1984.

The book may be out of print, but you might find it in a library. It might have some of the history you are looking for.
