Hi Denise,

It's been awhile. I have made some progress and have some more leads since we last were corresponding. I was wondering if you might take another look into your Fidler part of the tree and see if you can find any links.

Melville and Norman's Father John is who you were looking to find last time with no success.

I have since determined Johns siblings and parents.

Josiah Fidler (AKA: Jessie, Jesse)
b. 1837 PA
Occupation: Molder
Married Ellen Thompason Tuscarawas county OH in 1860.

They had 4 children:
John b. 1861
Ellanora b. 1864 (AKA: Orah)
Charles b. 1866
Flora b. 1871

Now, I do have another lead but cannot confirm it regarding Josiah's father and siblings.

1850 CENSUS IN TUSCARAWAS DOVER PA IT LISTED
JOHN 65YRS BORN PA
ELIAS 15YRS BORN PA
JOSIAH 13YRS BORN OH
DANIEL 11YRS BORN OH

IN THE 1840 CENSUS SAME AREA
IT LISTED JOHN WITH THE FOLLOWING
3 MALES UNDER 5
1 MALE 5-10 YRS
2 MALES 10-15 YRS
1 MALE 50-60 YRS { JOHN }
2 FEMALES 10-15 YRS
1 FEMALE 50-60YRS {WIFE }
DANIEL WAS MARRIED TO ARMANTHA LAST NAME UNK
ELIAS MARRIED TO SARAH JANE BARKHEIMER IN 1856

I can’t confirm yet, but I suspect this John Fidler was my g-g-g-grandfather’s father. The birth date of my ancestor Josiah coincides with the date of birth above and with the apparent move of the family from PA to OH so close to the date of birth for John, I can reasonably conclude that a mistake in his place of birth could have been made.

This in itself is obviously not enough to confirm that the John listed above is my ancestor, but it does give me some new leads and if I can continue to further match up dates, places, and names with what is in my records I might be able to confirm my suspicions.

Anything in your records?

Sincerely,

Thomas Fidler
