Mary,
In your family research, have you found different surname spellings as you traced back your family ?
Has certainly made my search confusing and very difficult, especially in any search abroad. I really do not have much to go on, at least from family sources as there seems to be no genealogy passed down through the generations. So at this point I don't know where this family originates, Germany or Netherlands ? Also, at least under the Feyh spelling in IGI records on the internet it seems some were Lutheran, some were Catholic it appears, to answer your other question.
My GGGF and his brother were listed as stonemasons from census record and came to central Ohio. There were other Feyh's living in the Cincinnati area, New York and branched out from there. How they are connected to mine, I have no idea yet. One would think there is a connection since the spelling is the same. I do know some of them were maltsters as well.
