I am trying to research Jacob Few, who was (I believe) the father of Simeon Simpson Few, sometimes known as Simeon, Simoen, or Simon Few.
I don't have my tree in front of me, but I believe Jacob would have been born before 1800--but not by much. Simeon Few dates to around 1820-25, I believe.
Jacob Few may have been a runaway slave--there is one reference, in a scholarly journal I don't have a subscription to so I can only get a one line abstract,
that says, "Jacob Few, runaway slave, was returned..." if I am quoting it accurately.
The reason for this research is to find out more about the African-Americans who are part of my Few family tree. My great-grandfather, Simeon's son, Lewis, was a person of mixed racial background...how mixed I don't know, but according to distant kin, our Fews were a mix of African-American, white, and Native American.
