A fire need not be fatal to all records. My Fetters at Berkeley County were recorded as having wills on record before the Civil War, but the courthouse itself was destroyed by the Northern troops. I have found that a copy of both was submitted back to the new courthouse apparently from the family. Then it was poorly photocopied and I found a volunteer there who was able to read it for me.
I hope it will be the same for you.
