MRS. MARY FESSLER
Mrs. Mary Fessler, 81, for many years a resident of Iola, Kan., died Thursday at the Methodist Home for the Aged in Topeka.
Mrs. Fessler was born in Johnson county, Indiana June 13, 1850, and with her parents, the Rev. and Mrs. John Shanks, came to Iola in 1878. Her father was instrumental in beginning many churches in the vicinity of Iola during his ministry in the Methodist church. He died in 1900, and Mrs. Shanks died in 1909.
Surviving Mrs. Fessler are two sisters, Mrs. Clara Steyer and Miss Ida M. Shanks, both of the Methodist Home.
Funeral services will be at the Home chapel Saturday afternoon at 4 o'clock. Burial will be in Iola, following services at the Methodist church there Sunday.
