I'm also looking for Fessler who lived in the same area. I found a Joseph Festler b. abt 1818 in Germany. He was age 62 on the 1880 census, Long Island, Queens, New York City-Greater New York. His wife was Louisa age 48 also born in Germany, children were Phillip age 29 single b. NY an engineer, Dora age 19, single, b. NY and Lizzie age 17, single, b. NY. I would say there were other children between Phillip and Dora because of the age difference, but don't know their names. With Phillip being born in NY in about 1851 would say the family came to the US before 1850 or thereabouts.

I believe that this Dora is the Dora Fessler/Festler who married a Hopkins, first name unknown at this time. They had at least one child, Catherine "Katie" Hopkins who married John Joseph Wunderlich. All these families were in the areas of Manhattan, Bronx, etc. Catherine Hopkins and John J. Wunderlich's daughter, Dorothy married Milton Leslie Ayers.

In 1920 there is a Barbara Fessler age 47, living in Brooklyn. I may be able to find her on the census, if you don't have access to the 1920 census.
