I am researching the name Fishenden and its variants such as Fisenden and Fesenden worldwide. John and then Nicholas Fishenden went to New England in the early 1600s. In subsequent generations in America, the name became spelt Fessenden. The 'e' spelling has only been used in America. We have a free Fishenden/Fisenden/Fessenden website on Ancestry.com.
