I have an Edward Ferry, b June 1842 in Ireland or England. I found him in the 1870 census at age 26 in Pittsburgh living in a boarding house, stating that he immigrated from Ireland in 1869.
In 1900 he is in Pine Twp, Mercer Co and states that he immigrated from England. He has been married 20 yrs to Frances, b 1860, and children living at home include Joseph, Francis, Willie, Annie, Ellen, and Alice. [Seven of their 8 children are still living.]
In 1910 he is in East Pine Twp, Mercer Co, stating that he immigrated from Ireland. He is not a naturalized citizen.
I have orphan's court papers for 2 daughters, who in 1917 and 1920 wanted to get married but were under the age of 21.
The marriage certificate of another daughter, who was my great grandmother, indicates that she was born in Grove City in 1896 and still lived there in 1914 when they married. By this time both of her parents, Edward Ferry and Frances Sowers were deceased. William Ferry was her legal guardian at the time.
