your message re US-based Ferrols from 2005

Dear Eric Ferrel

I have only just noticed your message of 2005 in which you sought out any US-based "Ferrols".

I am Robert Macindoe Ferrol, 4250 Via Dolce #219, Marina del Rey CA 90292. (Robert Macindoe was my maternal father's complete name - a local common practice with first-born sons)
I was born in Queen's Park, Glasgow, Scotland in 1941. My father was Henry O'Neil (mother's maiden name) Ferrol and I believe his father was named John ( of Clydebank). My father also had an older brother (whom I never met) named John)
My father's story was he ran away from home when he was very young and so couldn't (or didn't wish to) provide me with any background at all except to say that the family originally came from El Ferrol, Spain approximately 400 years ago - we apparently were invited to leave during one of the numerous inquisitions in that country.

A couple of years ago I went to the Regsitrar's Office in Glasgow to attempt to trace the family and got back as far as the John in the early to mid 1800's who you mention who apparently was a "coachman".

I'd love to hear from you and of course anything you might be able to add or correct for me. My email address is rferrol@cc.rr.com.
Best wishes,

Robert M. Ferrol
