FERRITER, C.A., 1901 IA MO
The purpose of this posting is to mark the centenary of my father, Charles Arthur Ferriter, born March 14, 1901, in Trenton MO, son of Janh Patrick, grandson of John.
C.A. Ferriter believed wholeheartedly in the Ferriter family identity, and in his role in extending it. The son of an army officer, he graduated from the U.S. Naval Academy in 1924, and served another 31 years in the Navy. Pursuant to action associated with the
Japanese attack on Cavite, December 10, 1941, he was awarded the Navy Cross.
He served continuously at sea for the entirety of WWII, participating in
many of the major battles in the Pacific. Throughout his life he maintained
an active interest in reconstructing family history, and in constructing it,
when necessary. Always quick to adopt new methods of thinking and
understanding, had he lived into the internet era, he would doubtless have
been a joyful and frequent contributor to the collective efforts to define
our genealogy. C.A. Ferriter died during the month of August, 1970. Warrior,
Scholar, Monk...To those of you who knew him: Salute him! To those of you
who didn't; pray for his soul.
