Ferris, Joseph Roderick View/Sign Guest Book
Joseph Roderick Ferris October 16, 1915 - January 21, 2008 A Heart of gold stopped beating Working hands at rest. God broke our hearts to prove to us. He only takes the best. Joe's life centered around his beloved family and was especially devoted to his wife Florence for all their 65 years of marriage. He was born and raised in Manitoba where he lived on the family farm. As a young man he ventured to northern Ontario to work in the gold mines. Not finding his fortune there, he joined the RCAF and served for four years during WWII. This brought him and his bride to Vancouver where they resided until this November. While growing up Joe loved to play baseball for the local town but learned to swing a golf club as well, once he settled in Vancouver. He was a long standing member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 177 and one of their avid crib players. Since November Joe and Florence joined their family in Chilliwack, B.C. in order to spend more time with them. Missing him more than words can express are his wife Florence, daughter Dianne and son-in-law Don Hews; grandson Kevin and wife Deanna and great-granddaughter Elizabeth Hews; grandson Edward and wife Emily and great-grandson Caiden Hews; Joe's sisters Ida Holowka and Laura Ledochowski and numerous nieces and nephews. Other relatives and friends he held all dear to his heart. A Funeral Mass will be said on January 29, 2008 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 8909 Mary St. Chilliwack, B.C. Fr.
