Hi Kate,

I should have checked Lemuel out better.
It appears he was from NH, so he probably was not directly connected to William S. and Samuel Fernald.
(Unfortunatly, Lemuels line does not connect back further down the Fernald chain yet either!! Although the area he is from is listed. Nottingham and Northwood NH are mentioned from sources on the net).
In 1810 there is a Lemuel in Durham, Strafford, NH,
age 26-45 with 2 females under 10 and his wife.
In 1820 Quincy, a Lemuel has 4 females under 10, 1 female 10-18 and one 18-26. plus Mary (age 26-45).
The ages seem to fit.
From the census, Lemuel was born 1780-1790.
He was married to Mary Evans also of NH. probably abt 1805.
(Their date of marriage seems off in places or rather confused with a daughters date of marriage in 1826.)
Mary was still living in 1850 in Quincy MA. She was born abt 1786.
One place they can be found is at: http://worldconnect.rootsweb.com/

That leaves only the descendants of William S., who very well may be William Stacy Fernald, b. 1790 son of Dennis Fernald and Elizabeth Stacy that Samuel may have stemed from.

I'll check William S. out a little more here and as for Lemuel's line, I'll find another post. Since I don't believe he is closely connected to Samuel.

Bob
