I was wondering if perhaps my William is a son of the William that you are trying to locate. My grandfather, William Fergusson also had a son William Fergusson and I wondered if it was traditional for them to call their first born sons William. My grandfather William married Elizabeth McKay (also from Scotland). All I know about him is that he had approx. five sisters and only one brother. Both he and his brother moved to Western Australia in the early 1900's. He was a champion light weight boxer in Scotland. He was a Presbeterian who converted to a Catholic so that he could marry Elizabeth McKay. I hope this is of some help to you. If not no harm in trying!
