Hi Malcolm,
As you say it appears that there is no link between the FERGUSSONs of Balqhidder, Perthshire and those of Craigdarroch, Dumfriesshire. That being said, my John FERGUSON from Balqhidder who emigrated to Perth Township, Ontario was, apparently, known as Craig Darroch and sold a scotch whisky under that name as one of his ventures. I have a lot of family history on the 4 FERGUSON brothers who emigrated from Balqhidder including the legend of their link with Rob Roy! Do get in touch if this is of interest to your research.
