John I too have the same family history but to date have not been able to trace the connection my ancestor arrived in Australia in 1816 from India on his own ship the Jupiter however his father was the Rev Joshua Fergusson in Armagh Ireland I do believe a number of Alexander and Annies'issue went to Ireland .Alexander according to the mormon records died in Virginia Annie in Holyrood but I think it's more like Holywood near Dumfries close by to Craigdarroch well about 10 miles away and about 5 miles from Maxwelton House where she lived before her marriage I will keep plugging away at it will let you know when we findout regards Ben
