Stocks Creek and Stony Point Road are in Amelia County (the far western part). This is of interest to me for the follow reason.

My great-great-great-grandfather was named John Carter (1775 - 1852). John Carter appears to have acquired (how I am not sure) land in western Amelia County around 1832, which had previously belonged to William J. Ferguson. John Carter build his plantation "Mulberry Grove" upon this land.

John Carter's oldest son, born in 1809, was named William RYLAND Carter. There are no Rylands in Amelia at this time, but there are two in Lunenburg County on the 1810 Census: Thomas Ryland and Robertson Ryland. I have been trying to find a link to the Ryland family. John Carter's wife by whom he had his children is still unknown.

Would you have insight for me as to a Carter connection to your William Ferguson? I am not sure I followed, but what exactly was the relationship between your Wiliam Ferguson and Jael Ferguson, who married Thomas Ryland?
