Hi Diane, I do not pretend to know the identity of the father of William Ferguson who married Judah Wood but I offer these facts for your consideration. According to your posted information, Faith Anderson Ferguson died in 1771 (PELEG3 FARGUSON (JOHN2, JOHN1) was born Aft. 1730, and died 1796 in Nottoway Co, VA. He married(1) FAITH ANDERSON. She was born 1727 in Arnols, Surry Co., VA, and died Bef. October 20, 1771 in Nottoway Co, VA.). The William Ferguson who married Judah Wood served in the Revolutionary War. He applied for a war pension in 1833 and died in Georgia the next year. In his pension application he says that he gave his mother his discharge papers "soon after he quit service". He tells that he was present at the surrender of Cornwallis at Yorktown. That surrender occurred in Sept. of 1781. So he gave his papers to his mother after 1781. Your information says Faith Anderson Ferguson died "Bef. October 20, 1771. So please help me understand how Faith could have been William's mother. I have searched for William's parents for some time now. I had to rule out Peleg and Faith based on the facts above. Also, William and Judah did not name any of their children "Peleg" or "Faith". That does not really disprove the Peleg Theory but it seems unlikely given the naming conventions of those days. Please share with me any other supporting information for this Peleg Theory. I am very interested to know how you came to this conclusion. Thank you for any information you can provide. - Anne Ferguson
