I too am a fifth great-grandson of William Ferguson of Amelia Co. Va. I am related through his son Hugh. What I want to know is what is the name Fargerson and when did it become Ferguson? And was the father of William Ferguson a Peleg Ferguson? And What background to you have for previous generations? When did the family come from Scotland(Northern Ireland) and from what part of Scotland did they come from. Perhaps you do not know all this but whatever you know would be helpful. I can be a some help to tell you how my ancestors trace back to William Ferguson. My father was born in Clinton Co., Kentucky. Thank you.
