The info. I have on William's father is scant. (He and his wife Martha Childress Fergus died when most of their children had barely reached adulthood,cause of death unknown.) His name was Robert Elliot Fergus,he was born approx. 1812 in Scotland, he, his wife, and possibly a young son that was his name sake, died after 1850 in Rutherford county,Tennessee. ( In case your wondering this is the same Robert Elliot Fergus posted on this board 1/01 by my cousin Nancy S. Cloutier.) I believe Robert Elliot Fergus first arrived in America in Virginia, and perhaps traveled thru North Carolina, then on to TN. (1830 TN census is the first one I can find him on.) I will gladly take your advice and post on the Rootsweb Fergus list. Thanks!
