Obituary for Robert C. Fenstermacher 1919 - 2009
Robert Fenstermacher M.D. 89, Lincoln, passed away Friday (1/30/09). Born in Sargent, Neb., March 28, 1919, to Dr. Clark (M.D.) and Olive Fenstermacher. Graduated from the University of Nebraska Medical School, 1943. Married Edith Nelson, November 25, 1943. Served in the U.S. Navy, World War II. Medical practice in Auburn and Nebraska City for many years. Retired in 1981. Enjoyed art, sailing, flying and computers. Former member of the American Academy of Family Physicians and Golden K. Kiwanis in Lincoln. Served on the Nebraska City School Board. He was a kind and caring husband, father and physician.
Survivors include wife, Edith, Lincoln; daughter, Beverly Windle, Mill Valley, Calif.; son, Jay Fenstermacher, Aliso Viejo, Calif.; grandson, Jason Fenstermacher; and sister, Inez Wilson, North Platte. Preceded in death by parents and infant son.
There will be a cremation, no visitation. A celebration of Robert's life will be held at a future date in Nebraska City for family and friends. Memorials may be sent to the Nebraska City Rescue Squad, Nebraska City; St. Mary's Hospital, Nebraska City; or the Firemen's Museum, Nebraska City. Condolences may be emailed to [email protected].
