Hey, Lois,
I am a great granddaughter of Thomas Burgess who married Hannah Jane Pettus. This is Robert and Joseph's brother.
He came into Texas in the 1880s, dont remember the date at this time. They brought the mother with them. Robert did not marry, but Joseph did and moved to just below the Red River.
Inorder to tell more I will have to find my notes. both brothers are found on line in the Texas handbook.
