Sarah Fenner - Louisburg or Ingleside, Franklin county, North Carolina
Posted by: Sheila Hanna (ID *****6669) Date: August 08, 2004 at 08:17:43
  of 1035

Trying to determine family & parentage of Sarah found who lived on the outskirts of Louisburg, Franlkin county, NC (locale may appear as Ingleside). She was apparently well-to-do and loved to dance, so much so that she installed a mirror-lined ballroom in her home. She also had a schoolroom in her home that earned the home the nickname of "Tutor Hall". An 1828 newspaper ad for a new school indicated that "Mrs. Fenner" (implying that Fenner might have been a married name)was willing to take in students from a neigboring school as boarders. I know that there was a Dr. Richard Fenner in the same area some years prior, but have been unable to determine whether the two were related, but according to www.fennerfamily.com, Dr. Fenner moved to Tennessee circa 1823 & was married to a woman named Ann Geddy. Please contact me via e-mail if you have any info that might help me determine who Sarah Fenner might have been.
