I was born and raised in western Pennsylvania, Westmoreland County, in the Greensburg area. I am a direct descendant of Christopher Fehnel (Fennell) who moved to Westmoreland County PA from eastern PA in Northampton County, I believe. I have traced Christopher back to his father, Frederick, and his grandfather, Johann Philipp Fehnel. I believe, but have not been able to confirm, that Johann and Frederick immigrated to America from Germany, arriving in Philadelphia from Rotterdam and Cowes in 1753. I cannot find any more information on Johann and Frederick. What is Johann's wife's name? Was she already deceased when Johann came to America, or did she come to America with her husband? Is Frederick Johann's only child? Did Johann and Frederick arrive in Philadelphia in 1753 on board the same ship? And, most importantly, from where did Johann and Frederick come from in Germany? What is the name of their village? Basically, I'm looking for anything and everything I can find out about my ancestors from "the old country" in Europe. I'm planning a trip to Germany this coming summer, and I so desperately want to visit the village my ancestors came from. I'd appreciate any and all assistance you may offer. I have other Fehnel-Fennell family history I am willing to share. Notify Administrator about this message?
