On February 8, 1999, I posted a message looking for information on Emily Fennell. She was born on March 2, 1845 in Berry's Ferry, Jefferson County, Kentucky and died on June 19, 1939 in Fontenelle, Nebraska, She married Isaac Lydick in Marion County, Illinois. After a lot of hunting, I think that I have found her. She appears to be the daughter of Samuel J. Fennell and his wife Laura. The 1856 Census for Union Township, Des Moines County, Iowa lists the following family: S.J. Fennel - aged 37 (born ca. 1819) - male - born in Ohio - resident in Iowa for 7 years - farmer Laura A. Fennel - aged 33 (born ca. 1823) - female - born in Ohio - resident in Iowa for 7 years Emily Fennel - aged 10 (born ca. 1846) - female - born in Kentucky - resident in Iowa for 7 years Mary Fennel - aged 9 (born ca. 1848) - female - born in Kentucky - resident in Iowa for 7 years Sarah E. Fennel - aged 6 (born ca. 1850) - female - born in Kentucky - resident in Iowa for 6 years Laura Fennel - aged 2 (born ca. 1854) - female - born in Kentucky - resident in Iowa for 7 years The 1860 Census of District 4, Lauderdale County, Tennessee reflects the same family: S. J. Fennell – aged 46 (born ca. 1814) – male – laborer - $160 in personal property – born in Ohio Laura A. Fennell – aged 39 (born ca. 1821) – female – born in Ohio Emily Fennell – aged 15 (born ca. 1845) – female- born in Kentucky Mary Fennell – aged 13 (born ca. 1847) – female – born in Illinois Sarah Fennell – aged 12 (born ca.1848) – female – born in Iowa Laura Fennell – aged 10 (born ca. 1850) – female – born in Illinois Henrietta Fennell – aged 3 (born ca. 1857) – female – born in Iowa George Fennell – aged 8/12 (born ca. 1860) – male – born in Iowa Finally, the 1870 Census of Union Township, Union County, Illinois lists the same family: Samuel J. Fennell – aged 57 (born ca. 1813) – male – white – farmer - $100 in real estate - $200 in personal property – born in Ohio Laura Fennell – aged 47 (born ca. 1823) – female – white – housekeeper – born in Ohio Mary Fennell – aged 23 (born ca. 1847) – female – white – born in Illinois Elizabeth Fennell – aged 22 (born ca. 1848) – female – white – born in Iowa Henry E. Fennell – aged 12 (born ca. 1858) – male - white - born in Iowa George Fennell – aged 10 (born ca. 1860) – male – white – born in Iowa By this time, Emily was already married to Isaac Lydick.
