Hi James. I happened upon your query because I have a family line of FENNELL ancestors, though not your line. After reading your query I did some searching at ancestry.com. I think I found your James FENNELL in Decatur, Alabama in the 1920 and 1930 census. He was living with his grandparents and mother. The John TOWNSEND family. In 1930 Kittie/Kate was married to a Philip WILLIAMS. I also found a record for a marriage in 1946 for a James FENNELL in Morgan Co. Also John TOWNSEND and his wife Delia had a son named Robert. He was living with them in 1910 in Nashville, Tennessee. I know this is not proof positive but if you would like any of the information please let me know. Have you tried to get James Social Security Application? I have ordered a few of them and they usually have the parents names on them.

Margaret
